About Us
Community Investors Incorporated is a 501c3 Louisiana nonprofit organization that assists people with basic needs, educational assistance, and vocational support. Since 2005, the agency has helped thousands of people through its food pantry, community technology center, and distribution of heaters, air conditioners, and appliances.
The nonprofit was started in 2005 by a Louisiana native, Nina DuPont, who is a community organizer and volunteer. She saw the lack of services being offered in Southern Louisiana. As a result, she founded Community Investors Inc. to help people get access to the solutions they need to uplift their lives.
Community Investors Inc. is a valuable resource for the community. It’s one of the nonprofit organizations in Louisiana that prevents economically disadvantaged families and individuals from suffering needlessly. A priority of the organization is to become strategic in addressing the area’s most persistent problems of poverty, as well as low high school graduation rates.
OUR PROGRAMS
Our programs aim to help children, individuals, families, and senior citizens who are struggling; and also provide support to those who need academic or vocational help. The goal of our programs is to ease the burdens of poverty. We also aim to prepare the youth and young adults to end the cycle of poverty, and thus move forward to a brighter future ahead.
Our programs are sustained through the kindness of individuals, local businesses, and community volunteers who roll up their sleeves to help staff our programs and events. As one of the active Louisiana charities in the area, we connect those who are willing to help and those in dire need of help to create a compassionate community.
OUR MISSION
Our work is focused on the needs of people in Southern Louisiana. Our mission is critical to the well-being of our community. We aim to create positive outcomes and make our community a better place for everyone.
Our mission is achieved through the three values that drive the agency’s compassionate response to individual and community needs:
1. Children must have available educational support that ensures academic and life success.
2. All people, especially young adults and providers, must have the tools and support needed to create a better life for themselves and their families.
3. Senior citizens in the community must be cared for and protected. They also deserve an opportunity to enjoy their “golden years.”
This mission is the reason why our organization exists. Our current programs and services, as well as any future activities, are aligned with these values.
